as night falls
NEW MUSIC // NOVEMBER 2025
Dear reader,
I’m thrilled to announce that I have a new album called as night falls out now everywhere!
If you want to hear a bit about the track, the album, and the process of making all of it, keep reading. If you’d rather skip straight to the listen, you are encouraged to listen here and watch the music video below :-)
A journey through the night
I have a lot of very personal records in my catalog. Pressing On, Some Cosmic Shift, Circling, Bloom, and Mood Swings are all projects that came out of different experiences of mine over the last decade or so.
I wanted to do something totally different this time around. As the demos began to form, I recognized something more dimensional in the music—a story, and one that felt much bigger than mine alone.
Throughout the process of making this record, I pictured a character a la Joan of Arc on a journey through the night—a journey through darkness. Let’s take a look at what than journey entails…
The story of as night falls, track by track
The album begins with track 1, as night falls—an overture to our nights journey, and one that moves from the still of the campfire through a dizzying plummet into a drum and bass infused darkness.
The real story begins on track 2, dance beneath the dripping moon. I see this as a sort of commune with nature, or a rain dance—A moment of community and gratitude to set the stage.
Track 3, stealthy, she moves! scores the beginning of the fall—the time when our character must escape without trace.
Track 4, incoming, is the when our character makes the transition to vigilante, attempting to save their burning world.
Track 5, a divine wrath, is when everything comes crashing down—the fall of empire, a cataclysmic event taking down everything in it’s path.
Track 6, set adrift, is where our character wakes up after the fall—their world reduced to ruin.
Track 7, wading, is where our character must cope with the loss they have faced, make sense of their new world, and find a path forward.
Closing out the project is track 8, emergence and reckoning, where out character remerges to face the new world—uncertain, carrying all of that loss on their shoulders, but moving forward nonetheless.
Making as night falls
This record is my most ambitious pursuit yet. The music was drafted throughout 2024 and the beginning of 2025. I was listening to a lot of Prince.
The project took it’s characteristic shape during a session with my drummer and longtime collaborator Martine Wade.
With the exception of the bass on track 3 and some of the auxiliary percussion, I played all the instruments. Everything was tracked in my bedroom studio. No MIDI.
The foley and atmospheric sounds were all captured on a borrowed zoom recorder in Brooklyn’s own Coney Island.
I did a preliminary mix, my friend Hunter Davidsohn did a proper mix, and I finalized the masters.
In case you missed it, I published this behind the scenes look at the making of this album:
Besides the music, the videos you’ve been seeing and these write ups were all done by yours truly. I cannot articulate how much work all of this is, especially when also holding down a teaching job, playing out, writing educational pieces, and making video essays.
Now, I ask you dear reader, please consider showing some love for the new project on Bandcamp, streaming, and Youtube—tis a real labor of love and a journey I’m excited to take you on.
Thank you for reading, thank you for listening—Jerk loves you ❤️

and we love jerk!!!
